Erik L’Heureux FAIA is a celebrated American architect and educator who has a special expertise in designing for the dense equatorial city. Erik migrated to the tropics from New York City in 2003. Despite his cool climate background, he has built a thriving creative practice throughout South East Asia.

A former wooden boat builder, he practiced architecture in New York while teaching at the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at The Cooper Union and later has taught at the National University of Singapore and Washington University in St. Louis.

He has received several design awards for his work including being awarded with the Wheelwright Prize from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design for expanding his research on equatorial architecture around the globe. Other awards include the American Institute of Architects New York, Society of American Registered Architects New York, The World Architecture Festival Design Award, and President’s Design Award Singapore among others.

Erik is a is registered architect in the USA, a member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and a LEED Accredited Professional.
